Our Privacy Policy

We understand that your privacy is important to you. This policy describes the steps Lights Out America (LOA) has taken to protect your privacy and information in connection with lightsoutamerica.org (“the Site”).

If for any reason you do not agree to any of the terms of this privacy policy, do not provide LOA with any information and discontinue your use of the Site. Your continued use of the Site after an updated version of the privacy policy has been posted signifies your acceptance of the changes and of the terms in their entirety for any information gathered or confirmed after the date of the change.

The Policy

You may browse the Site and access information on the site without disclosing any personally identifiable information. We do not collect information about individual visitors who do not register on the Site.

Providing us with your personal information (PI), such as name and email addresses in order to pledge your support of LOA event or sign up for email updates, is voluntary and you may choose not to provide us with certain information. In order to pledge your support to turn your lights out on the night of our event October 20, we ask that you provide PI such as your name and email address volunteered by you through the Site. Collected information, including PI, may be used by LOA for internal purposes only.

LOA will not share or sell your PI to any third party. LOA may disclose any information you have provided if it is required to do so by law or pursuant to a request by law enforcement. We also reserve the right to disclose information, including PI, if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to comply with the law or with the legal process; to protect the rights or property of Event Organizers, sponsors, their directors, officers, staff, or volunteers, or other third parties; or to act in an emergency to protect the safety or legal rights (know as "Mandatory Disclosures") of other individuals or organizations. LOA may change its name or form of entity at some time in the future if circumstances so dictate. If this occurs, PI may be transferred to a new entity. However, we will not sell or transfer PI, except subject to the terms of our privacy policy as set forth herein. Aggregated information that we have collected may be provided to third parties, including partners, affiliates, and advertisers, but this information will not be associated with any PI before it is disclosed, unless LOA has obtained your consent.

Your browser has options to accept, reject or alert you when a cookie is received. LOA may set and access cookies on your computer, if your browser settings so allow us. Cookies may be used for a variety of purposes, including saving your password so you do not have to re-enter it each time you visit our site from the same computer. Advertisers or other companies do not have access to LOA's cookies. LOA has no control over the information collected from or about you by any third party after you leave the Site. By clicking on links to other websites, including our partners, sponsors, advertisers and other third parties, you are leaving the Site. You may provide this consent by "opting-in" and choosing to have your information shared with third parties when you register with us. These third parties will generally be related to environmental activism or similar topics. You can at any time send us an e-mail to info@lightsoutamerica.org in order to opt-out or opt-in to our list of those receiving such invitations or for any privacy-related change to your account.

LOA cannot ensure the security of, guarantee, or warrant any information transmitted by you to us online either via the Site or via email and we accept no liability for any unintentional disclosures.
